Swanston St Redevelopment - City of Melbourne
In 2012, Swanston Street, Melbourne’s iconic spine, was upgraded to become a more accessible, enjoyable and safer place for everyone to use.
Key features of the $25.6 million Swanston Street redevelopment include:
- Four major new public spaces – outside the City Square, Bourke Street Mall,the State Library and Franklin Street/ RMIT
- Elevated road for cyclists.
The tram zones feature improved facilities for commuters including more shelters, seating and electronic next tram arrival information public art, lighting and street furniture.
